Our Mission
The Kalamazoo Seventh-day Adventist Church is part of a worldwide body of Seventh-day Adventist believers called to make disciples of Jesus by preaching the everlasting gospel in these last days.
"Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people— saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.” Revelation 14:6, 7

Our History
The Kalamazoo Company was officially founded in 1883 by Elder Edgar. They held meetings at a member's home on West South Street. In 1892, the Conference authorized the organization of the 24 members, including children. Brother Umsted built a business on the corner of Portage and Winsted Street, reserving the second floor as a meeting place for the company.
On October 16, 1892, they were organized as a church with Elder Edgar as their pastor. We do know there was a group of believers existing prior to that date because a statement in the Review and Herald dated April 9, 1881, mentions a group of SDA believers from Kalamazoo who attended a meeting in Otsego where Mrs. Ellen G. White was the speaker.
Today, the Kalamazoo Seventh-day Adventist Church is a welcoming place for worship, fellowship, and service. Through inspiring worship services, Bible study groups, community outreach programs, its Junior Academy, as well as youth ministries, the church continues its mission to share God's love and prepare hearts for His kingdom. We invite you to be part of our growing church family and discover hope, purpose, and belonging.

Want to Know What We Believe Before You Visit?
As Seventh-day Adventists, we believe that the Bible is the foundation of our faith—it’s our only creed and the ultimate guide for life. From its pages, we draw a set of core beliefs that reflect the love, hope, and truth of God’s Word. These beliefs shape how we live, how we worship, and how we care for others. At the heart of it all is Jesus—our Savior, our example, and our soon-coming King.

Meet Our Pastor

Pastor Jermaine Gayle
Senior Pastor
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jermaine Gayle, and I feel it an absolute privilege and honor to serve as Senior Pastor of the Kalamazoo Church. I traveled to the United States from the lovely Island of Jamaica in December of 2008. Since my initial trip, God has taken me many places, for which I am very grateful to this day. I have lived in areas such as Philadelphia, Virginia, and Indiana, and have now finally settled in Michigan. My lovely wife, Asenath (Allie), and I have served our Adventist church community professionally since graduating from college in 2011. Before my current assignment, I have served as Chaplain, Associate Pastor, and Assistant Director for the Center for Adventist Ministry to Public University Students (C.A.M.P.U.S.), as well as Senior Pastor of the University Seventh-day Adventist Church.
One of the greatest joys in my daily routine is my lovely commute from Gobles to the beloved City of Kalamazoo. My greatest passion is to see God work through our church to embrace our broader community with loving arms by sharing the good news that Christ provides.
The things that I enjoy doing are painting, biking, and reading as many books as I can get my hands on. I am also currently doing a Master's degree online at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. Between ministry, school, and home life, I enjoy meeting people and learning their stories. My reason for this is that I am often reminded of my own. I would love to share more in person. Please stop by my office and say hi! Let's get in touch! Feel free to send me a message below!
